Implementation
After the digital literacy and capabilities of stakeholders have been assessed and a S.W.O.T. analysis has been conducted, we are ready to implement the strategic plan.
The focus of the digital strategy is to enhance and improve teaching and learning in the school environment.
An implementation committee will be selected which will be comprised of the relevant stakeholders (i.e. teachers and students) and school management (Principal, I.T.C., Subject Co-ordinators, etc). The implementation committee will assist in selecting and evaluating the relevant software to be used in the school. The committee will also be tasked with reporting back on the use of the software and improving on weak areas.
The committee will identify if the technology:
1) is effective
2) needs improving
3) is irrelevant
4) should be discontinued/or replaced.
Leadership will be tasked with ensuring that the choice of technology is aligned with achieving the school's mission and goals as set out in the strategic plan. Leadership must ensuring that continuous professional training and development is available to staff, ensure that there is access to quality internet services, have a program in place to distribute, maintain and manage technological tools and protect the privacy and access to stakeholders' personal information.
The Decision
As the Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training has established the mandate for the National Technology plan, I can now say that a digital strategy will be more beneficial to the students and teachers within Deacons Primary School at this time. It is my view, that we have not realized the true potential of having access to the technology readily available to us.
